Pastor Ron shares Some thoughts

DAY 4

1 Peter 3:10 Let Him who means to love life and see good days refrain his tongue from evil and his lip from speaking guile. NASB

There’s a challenge! And what a promise! My first thought is I wouldn’t do it. My second thought is how easy it is to do it. I thought of Peter , how quickly he went from “discerning” to “I got to do some learning”. When I opened the Word I went to John chapter 1 where Jesus starts His public ministry starting at vs. 35.

Jesus adds converts starting with two of  John the Baptist’s. Andrew one of the two, is brother of Simon. He finds Simon and tells him ” come, we have found the Christ”. Jesus upon meeting Simon calls him Cephas, or Peter. The next day Jesus led them to Galilee where He found Philip  and asked him to follow. Philip found Nathanael and led him to Jesus.

Jesus upon seeing  Nathanael coming said, “behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!”  Nathanael asks, “how do you know me?” Jesus replied, “before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”

The chapter ends with verse 51. Jesus says to Nathanael: “Truly, truly I say to you, you shall see the heavens opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.” What a reward for a man with no guile!

Lord, I know how quickly I can speak the first thought that comes into my mind. Help me to think twice before I speak once! Show me Lord before I speak out of turn. Help me to be more like Nathanael in my speech (guileless) and less like Peter(speaking whatever comes to mind).  May I also seek truth as Andrew did.

Come soon Lord! We watch for your return, Sam and Sharon Rakich.
